Every year my family goes to see Disney on Ice. It is a tradition that was started when I was a little girl with my family, and now I continue it with my children. We are a big Disney family so this is something we look forward to every year. This years show in Syracuse is Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Enchantment and includes performances from your favorite Toy Story, The Little Mermaid, Cars, and Frozen characters. And of course, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy show up too!
The first half of the show was mostly Toy Story 3, with a little bit of The Little Mermaid. The second half was mostly Frozen, but started with a few of the Cars characters. I love how Disney on Ice splits this up – and it is often the way these shows run. You get two full stories, and two small snippets of other movies.
Toy Story 3
The show opens with Toy Story 3, and I have to admit, I knew right then I was going to cry. If we saw Andy give his toys away it was going to be all over for me. That is one of my favorite Disney moments and it tugs right at the heart strings. Well, we see the toys battle Lotso and eventually, we see Andy letting them go. My youngest looked at me with tear filled eyes and hugged me and yea, that was it. Tear central for this sensitive mama.
My oldest said that this was her favorite performance of the night because she really liked all the army men. She thought the stunts were cool, and she enjoyed singing along to all the songs. She also really loves Barbie and Ken.
The Little Mermaid
We have seen The Little Mermaid featured in a few Disney on Ice shows before, but it never gets old. My husband and I absolutely love "Kiss the Girl" and were excited to see that song featured. I was also really happy to see one of my all time favorite Disney Villains – Ursula. Ariel and Eric also performed some of my favorite stunts – it seems like he was always lifting her up and twirling her around and it was amazing!
Cars
When Mickey and Minnie's car breaks down outside Radiator Springs, we get to see some of our favorite cars come out on the ice! This part was really fun and had a lot of special effects like fire! We had never seen Cars be part of a Disney on Ice show before, so we were all really excited! It only lasted a few minutes, and there were no songs, but it was still really cool!
Frozen
My youngest daughter was so excited to see that Frozen was a part of this show. She is (still) obsessed. We listen to "Let It Go" every single day in our house – and are all very eager for Frozen 2. Since we go to Disney on Ice a lot, we have seen this Frozen performance many times – but it is still one of our favorites! The songs are great and fun to sing a long to – and who doesn't love when Anna punches Hans right in the face?! Of course, this sensitive mom cries when Anna saves Elsa. I could blame it on the fact that I have two daughters and the sisters make me think of them but let's face it, I am just emotional.
